InspiredPlay Hawai’i is thrilled to congratulate the Papakōlea Community Park and Center for earning a National Demonstration Site (NDS) recognition from Playcore. This designation recognizes parks that incorporate all necessary components to be a PlayOn! NDS, including excellence in design, programming, and amenities.
As the steward of the Papakōlea Community Park and Center, the Papakōlea Community Development Corporation has created a 5,712 square foot multipurpose center that houses two meeting rooms, office space, a computer technology center, a community commercial kitchen, a basketball court, and a playground. The park and center are open to the community between 8 am and 9 pm daily, offering a wide range of activities and services.
The Papakōlea Community Park and Center is a hub of activity in the community, with a host of entities renting the park and center to conduct a diverse range of activities, including hula, jiu-jitsu, roller skating, basketball, volleyball, parties, and more. Facility rental fees contribute to the operation of the park and center, ensuring that it remains a valuable resource for the community.
Being designated as a PlayOn! NDS benefits the community by ensuring that the park and center’s design, amenities, and programming are of the highest quality, promoting physical activity, social interaction, and community engagement. This designation demonstrates the commitment of the Papakōlea Community Development Corporation to creating an inclusive, safe, and enjoyable play environment for all keiki and their families.
